Ethics Policy

Animal Research Policy

SIARE (Society of Integrated Academic Research and Education) requires that all research involving animals is conducted ethically, responsibly, and in accordance with internationally recognized welfare standards.

This policy applies to all submissions to AcademicProceeding.org involving animal experimentation, animal-derived data, or preclinical studies.

Based on ARRIVE Guidelines, 3Rs Principle, and international animal welfare regulations

Ethical Approval

Institutional approval required before conducting animal studies.

3Rs Principle

Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement must be followed.

Animal Welfare

Minimize pain, distress, and suffering.

Transparent Reporting

Clear reporting using ARRIVE guidelines.

1. Scope of the Policy

This policy applies to all research involving animals, including:

  • Laboratory-based experimental studies
  • Preclinical and biomedical research
  • Behavioral and ecological animal studies
  • Use of animal-derived tissues or data

2. Ethical Approval Requirement

All animal studies must be approved by an institutional animal ethics committee or equivalent regulatory authority before the study begins.

  • Name of ethics committee must be provided
  • Approval/reference number must be included

  • Minimization of suffering and distress
  • Use of anesthesia or analgesia where appropriate
  • Humane endpoints must be defined and followed

5. Reporting Standards

Authors must follow established reporting standards to ensure transparency and reproducibility:

Submissions should include detailed methodology, animal characteristics, experimental design, and statistical analysis.

6. Species-Specific Considerations

Researchers must ensure that species selection is scientifically justified and ethically appropriate.

  • Use of endangered species requires additional justification and approvals
  • Wildlife studies must comply with conservation regulations
  • Field studies must avoid ecological harm

7. Unacceptable Practices

The following practices are not permitted:

  • Unapproved animal experimentation
  • Unnecessary suffering or distress
  • Lack of ethical oversight
  • Failure to follow regulatory guidelines

8. Proceeding-Specific Requirements
