Publication Ethics

SIARE (Society of Integrated Academic Research and Education), through AcademicProceeding.org, maintains a comprehensive publication ethics framework to support integrity, transparency, accountability, and responsible scholarly publishing across all SIARE proceedings.

This page serves as the central ethics policy hub for the platform. It should be read together with the ethics and policy pages linked below, as well as the dedicated Publication Ethics & Integrity page of the relevant proceeding where title-specific requirements apply.

Global Policy + Proceeding-Specific Policy

This is the global ethics page for all SIARE proceedings. Individual proceedings may also maintain their own Publication Ethics & Integrity page with additional title-specific or subject-specific requirements.

1

Core Ethics Principles

SIARE’s publication model is built on a set of core principles that apply to authors, reviewers, editors, conference organizers, and publication partners.

Integrity

Research must be conducted, reported, and published honestly and accurately.

Transparency

Authorship, funding, conflicts, approvals, and data practices must be disclosed clearly.

Accountability

All participants in the publication process must take responsibility for their roles and actions.

Fairness

Editorial and peer-review decisions must be independent, unbiased, and evidence-based.

3

Ethics Topics and Practical Expectations

This section summarizes the key policy expectations across the publication lifecycle.

3.1 Originality, Plagiarism, and Redundant Publication

Submissions must be original, not under review elsewhere, and free from plagiarism, fabricated content, or misleading reuse. Duplicate publication, text recycling, and concealed redundancy are not acceptable.

Go to Plagiarism & AI Policy →
3.2 Authorship, Contributions, and Accountability

Authorship must reflect real scholarly contribution. Ghost, honorary, and guest authorship are prohibited. Contribution transparency and author accountability are required for publication.

Go to Authorship & Contribution Policy →
3.3 Human Subjects, Clinical Research, Consent, and Trial Registration

Research involving human participants must have appropriate ethics approval, respect privacy and welfare, include informed consent where required, and register clinical trials where applicable.

3.4 Animal Research and Welfare

Research involving animals must have appropriate ethical approval, follow welfare principles, and apply the 3Rs where relevant.

Go to Animal Research Policy →
3.5 Images, Figures, and Visual Data Integrity

Figures and images must accurately represent the underlying data. Misleading manipulation, duplication, concealment, or undisclosed assembly may constitute misconduct.

Go to Image Manipulation & Figure Ethics Policy →
3.6 Conflict of Interest, Funding, and Disclosure

Authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose competing interests and funding relationships that could affect interpretation, review, or decision-making.

Go to Conflict of Interest Policy →
3.7 Peer Review, Editorial Conduct, Appeals, and Misconduct Handling

Review and editorial decisions must be independent, confidential, respectful, and documented. Suspected misconduct, appeals, and complaints must be handled through defined procedures.

3.8 Citation Integrity and Post-Publication Record Maintenance

Citation practices must be relevant and not manipulated for metric advantage. If concerns arise after publication, SIARE may issue corrections, editorial notes, expressions of concern, withdrawals, or retractions according to its formal policies.
